If there's one nation that's really been built by and for motorised travel, it's the United States of America. No country has embraced the car quite like the US, and there's arguably not a game that celebrates that spirit more than The Crew 2, Ubisoft's open-world racing game. There's an inherent glee in barreling right from one cost of the country to the other, hurling yourself around corners at breakneck speeds, piling from the top of buildings and tearing up the cities and landscapes in your wake and accruing multiplier after multiplier, getting rewards piled on top of you as fast as you can drive. The open world of The Crew 2 is limited only by US borders. From the tightly packed streets of New York to the misty mountains of the Rockies, the country is open to you in all its glory. With the inclusion of planes and power boats, there's really no limit to what you can explore. With the game's always-online functionality, there's always a frisson of competition, too. Even if you choose to do the whole game in single-player and race only against AI, you'll still be aware of other players and the world will feel lived in. The inclusion of planes and boats has meant a new engine, with improved physics to boot. That's perhaps most obvious in the way the terrain feels - show up at a muddy canyon race with a Porsche 911 GT3 and you'll run into problems really quickly. Not that it matters too much - being able to morph from one vehicle to another you've collected at the touch of a button is one of the game's many freedoms. You'll be hard-pressed to find a game that celebrates the freedom of motorsports like The Crew 2.
The game is in full working order.
