2005 ROYAL MINT UNITED KINGDOM PROOF COIN SET - EXECUTIVE COIN COLLECTION

Limited edition executive annual proof set from The Royal Mint featuring the definitive and commemortative coins of 2005. Alongside the standard patterns, British coinage is graced with a a select number of special designs each year, issued to coincide with royal events and national anniversaries. 2005 marked 200 years since the Battle of Trafalgar, and the two Five Pound coins in this set celebrate the historic naval engagement, one bearing the image of HMS Victory, the other showing Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson: commander and casualty of the battle. Also included are a £2 coin struck for the 400th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot (Remember, Remember!), a 50p commemorating the publication of Samuel Johnson's Dictionary in 1755 and a £1 piece featuring the Menai Bridge in Wales. These are accompanied by seven 2006 definitive coins including a 2006 £2, 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p, all with a fine proof finish. The obverse of all twelve coins in this set shows Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, the fourth such definitive effigy utilised on her British coinage, in use between 1998 and 2015. Royal Mint executive sets come in beautiful wooden presentation cases, adorned with a metal plate to the lid. The interior is flocked, encasing the coin set which is presented in a double sided clear case, allowing the owner to appreciate the design without direct handling. An informative booklet and a certificate of authenticity are enclosed.
