Seller's Description

Alone in the Dark is a single-player survival horror game developed by Eden Games and published by Atari for the Xbox 360 in 2008. This description refers specifically to the original Xbox 360 release and does not include any later enhancements or additional content from the PlayStation 3 version, Alone in the Dark: Inferno. Specific description (Xbox 360 version, no DLC): Set in a modern-day supernatural version of New York City, players control paranormal investigator Edward Carnby as he awakens inside a collapsing skyscraper with no memory of recent events. As strange creatures and destructive forces spread throughout Central Park, Carnby must uncover the truth behind an ancient evil threatening the city. The Xbox 360 version is notable for its heavy emphasis on environmental interaction. Nearly every object can be picked up, examined, used as a weapon, or combined with other items. Players can create improvised tools and weapons—such as fire-based devices using everyday objects—and use realistic fire propagation to solve puzzles or defeat enemies. The game allows instant switching between first-person and third-person perspectives, blending exploration, combat, platforming, driving sequences, and physics-based puzzles. The story is divided into television-style "episodes," each beginning with a "Previously on Alone in the Dark..." recap. Players can skip episodes if they become stuck, a unique feature for the genre at the time. However, the original Xbox 360 release is also known for awkward controls, camera issues, and difficult vehicle sections, problems that were later improved only in the PS3 Inferno edition.
