Specific description (Xbox 360 version, no DLC): Set in the year 2034, one year after the events of Metro 2033, the story follows Artyom, a Ranger of the Spartan Order living within the Moscow Metro system after a global nuclear war has rendered the surface largely uninhabitable. When reports emerge of a surviving population of mysterious Dark Ones, Artyom is sent on a mission that soon draws him into a conflict involving rival Metro factions, political intrigue, and the future of humanity beneath the ruins of Moscow. Gameplay is presented from a first-person perspective and blends gunplay, stealth, exploration, and survival mechanics. Players travel through underground tunnels, abandoned stations, and hazardous surface environments while managing limited resources such as ammunition, gas mask filters, and medical supplies. Surface sections require the use of a gas mask to survive radiation, with mask damage and depleted filters posing constant threats. Combat allows players to approach encounters through direct action or stealth. A variety of customizable firearms can be modified with attachments including scopes, silencers, and extended magazines.
